AUDIT PROCESS


INITIAL CONSULTATION

  1. Identify Reason for audit: New PIC, New Owner, etc
  2. Determine parameters of Audit based on needs
  • TSBP/DEA: 4-8 hrs
  • Billing Practices: 6-12 hrs
  • Patient Safety Practices 2-6 hrs

AUDIT PREPARATION

  1. Business Associate Contract
  2. Audit Prep Sheet:
  • Should complete as much as possible to expedite process
  • Complete 1-2 days before scheduled audit

ONSITE AUDIT

  1. Regulatory: 150 point inspection
  2. Billing Practices Audit: 60 point detailed inspection, Includes review of over 100 original Rx’s  specific “audit flagged” medications
  3. Patient Safety Audit: over 50 point detailed review of all systems and interviewing of staff

PHARMACY REPORT CARD

  1. Detailed analysis of inspection
  2. Federal and state law references
  3. Includes specific implementation guidelines
  4. Conference call with consultant and PIC and/or Pharmacy Owner to discuss Assessment
 

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

  1. Creation of SOPs or documents recommended in assessment
  2. On site training
  3. In-services
  4. Reassessment in 6 months
